The first time I saw a howler monkey was in the beautiful ruined Mayan city of Tikal, in Guatemala. But I actually heard them before I saw them. We had to be up at 3:0am to meet a guide for a sunrise tour. When we woke up in the middle of the dark jungle, we heard deep, loud grunts and roars. After hearing so much about the seven types of jungle cats which lived there, I was more than relieved when we met the guide and he told us it was just howler monkeys telling each other good morning.

This is a hand-drawn and painted miniature illustration of a howler monkey in the jungle with ruins in the background. It's sealed under glass and sent into a silver-plated bezel, and it comes in a gift box on a matching chain.
