Wonderful pair of black leather puttees that were discovered at an estate sale. What was explained to me is that these were worn by officers as well as enlisted soldiers of the US Army Mounted Services and date around WWI time period.

The puttees are black unlined leather. There is a short belt and buckle at top and a longer belt and buckle that wraps completely around the front to rear. 11 3/4" in lenght and has a 17 stamped inside which denotes calf size.

For their age, the puttees are in very good shape. Free of any holes, rips, or tears. The bottom of the puttees do show some wear and brittleness and the belts also show some cracking from wear.

Would make a great decorator piece or a nice show piece for the military collector.
