This design comes from a pattern book that was printed in 1557 - yes, 460 years ago. Patterns in books printed in the 16th century were often used as guides for creating designs on textiles for homes and for adornment of clothing. It would be amazing to find some historical cloth that has this particular pattern on it. This was designed to be a companion piece to my pattern "Vase, Flowers, and Leaves." They are from the same 1557 pattern book and the two designs are about the same size.

Different color combinations can give different looks to this symmetrical design. Eight colors of DMC floss are suggested, but fabric and thread colors can really be up to you!. Pattern is black and white and uses full cross stitches only.

Stitch count is 191 x 118.
