Description

Silverplate Round Butter Dish, Wallace, Royal Rose, Glass Liner Included, Floral Pattern, Hard to Find

A gorgeous silver plated hollowware covered round butter dish by Wallace Silver. The pattern is called Royal Rose and has its glass liner. This pattern consists of a raised rose scroll pattern along the rim of the bowl. It is rare to find any silver plated covered butter dish with its inner glass liner. This butter dish is hard to find in its own right. It will add a touch of elegance to any dinner table, buffet, or sideboard. This would also be a fantastic display piece.

In 1815, Robert Wallace was born to a family of silversmiths from Scotland. In 1855, Wallace partnered with Samuel Simpson to produce German flatware. During this period, the company was called R. Wallace and Co. Later, Wallace would partner with a group of managers with the Meriden Britannia Co. At this point, Wallace’s company was named Wallace, Simpson, and Co. By 1871, Wallace had purchased the balance of his partner’s shares and the growing company was named R. Wallace and Sons Mfg. Co.

Size
3 inches in height with cover

Silver Bottom Tray
7 1/4 inches in diameter

Inner Liner
1 inch in height
4 inches in diameter

This covered butter dish is in good condition. The bottom tray under the glass liner does have some pitting. There is a mark on the top of the cover from a sticker (please see photo 4). Our price reflects this. The glass liner has no chips or cracks.

I polish all the silver in my shop to be able to determine the condition and show it off at it's best.

This is a great gift idea for a silver collector or for your own collection.
