The Essays of Elia first began appearing in The London Magazine in 1820 continuing to 1825.
Charles Lamb was an English essayist, poet, antiquarian, best known for his Essays of Elia and the children's book, Tales from Shakespeare, co-authored with his sister Mary. He was part of a major literary circle and friends with Coleridge, Wordsworth and Hazlitt amongst others.
