Description

Preserve your fragile sewing patterns for future generations (or just future projects).

Whether you're making fitting adjustments or other modifications to a commercial sewing pattern, sewing multiple sizes, drafting your own from scratch, or working with vintage or antique material, using Swedish tracing paper ensures that your master pattern remains intact. Practically indispensable for working with the tangled web of seamlines and sundry found in the pattern inserts of some sewing magazines (such as Burda). Cream colored, sheer enough to allow you to see even the most delicate details of your patterns, while still durable enough to be stitched together and tried on for fittings, you will wonder why you ever sewed without it.

Somewhere between fabric and paper, Swedish tracing paper closely resembles interfacing in its drape and stability, with a texture with just enough tooth to grip your fabric without snagging it (or you). And don't let the polyester content fool you, this tracing paper responds to a hot iron beautifully. Folding, and even considerable wadding, can be transformed back into a smooth work surface with just a little steam, a valuable trait if your patterns endure the same ordeals that mine seem to when in storage. It can even be washed!

Paper can be clearly and cleanly marked with both pens and pencils. Markers have minimal bleed, but take care to protect anything underneath that you don't want marked. Tape holds securely, but also knows when to let go (ie you won't be fighting a losing battle to preserve your pattern if you need to remove it).

Each roll measures 10 yards long, 29 inches wide (9 meters by 73 1/2 cm, for those more comfortable with the metric system).
