Description

Pierre Lorillard started his tobacco empire in 1760 in Manhattan. When he built his snuff mill on that island it was still mostly wilderness, but with time his Lorillard Tobacco Company grew and expanded in the 19th century to control a large portion of the tobacco industry. Their products included pipe tobacco, cigars, snuff, and chewing tobacco. Their Tiger brand chewing tobacco became very popular in the late 1800's through the early 1900's which Lorillard marketed in colorful tins that featured a wicker look print and its legendary tiger logo.

Produced somewhere between 1900-1930, our lunch box styled tin features the famous Lorillard tiger on all four sides of the box, his pensive gaze staring out at us in realistic graphics. The hinged lid opens and closes fairly easily and the double swing handles with all original hardware move up and down as they should. The top of the box graphic is a tobacco pouch with a bounding tiger and the words Bright Sweet Tiger Chewing Tobacco under it. This is a stunning piece of history that would be perfect for primitive or country store decor, as well as someone who loves vintage advertising or tobacciana pieces. A unique storage container, our Bright Sweet Tiger tin would look great displayed in your home bar or man room, or any place that could use a touch of vintage Americana and a splash of Bright Sweet Tiger color in your home.

Measuring 10" long x 7 1/2" tall x 5 1/4" wide, our tin is in good vintage condition. There are a few scratches and dings, as seen in the photos, but nothing outstanding or uncommon in containers that are 80-100 years of age. For the most part the graphics are strong and the colors vivid, and the inside shows little rust or blemishes. Our Bright Sweet Tiger tin is sure to make your friends growl with envy and have you purring like a kitten when they acknowledge our tobacco tin is the cat's meow.
