Description

A classic black evening gown from the war years made from a weighty rayon crepe. The dress has the remnants of the CC41 label, and although it has been cut out you can see the tops of the Cs, the point of the 4 and the 1.

The dress has a v neck with a thick band of soutache squiggles that are stitched into place with lamé threads. This then has a scalloped border or black sequins.

The waist is loose, and cinched with a tie at the back and there are press studs at the side to fasten.

There are fabulous, deep pockets at the hips, there existence highlighted with
A border of sequins and soutache to mirror the neckline.

There are bands if smocking between the pockets creating fullness in the front of the skirt.

There are shoulder pads at the edges of the shoulder. These were larger than they are now, someone has chopped the edges of them off. It still wears well and holds it shape, but you could replace with full pads if you wished.

Condition is good to very good.
The shoulder pads have been cut as described.
There is light iron shine in places.
There is a small hole just above the waist that has been stitched (pictured).
A couple of pin holes held to the light.
A few small pulls.

The dress presents beautifully.

Shown on a 33-25-35 mannequin without being pinned.

Laid flat
17 inches pit to pit (will fit a 36 bust easily though)
14 inches across the waist
Hips free
15.5 inches across the shoulders
16 inches shoulder to waist
40 inches waist to hem
