Learn to bead weave a pendant using free form peyote stitch. These instructions show how to stitch a Fairy Chrysalis, a pendant designed to look organic and constructed from a wide variety of beads, including lots of seed beads.
The pink finished pendant here and in the step-by-step photos is 55 mm by 25 mm by 11 mm and was sewn around a 40 mm marquise bead. See the cover page in the last image above for information on the materials.
Making this pendant is a suitable project for intermediate bead weavers who like seed bead weaving and want to learn more about the techniques of free from bead weaving around a core bead. The first part of this tutorial shows you photographs of all of the steps that I used to make the one pink pendant, including text explaining all of the photos. Key steps are also illustrated with drawings. The last 8 of the 18 pages are a photo gallery of 11 other Fairy Chrysalis pendants that I made using similar techniques, but with slight variations. There, I also provide written commentary explaining how these variations differ from the one in the step photos.
The tutorial is 18 pages, with almost 70 full color illustrations, and photographs.
