This listing is for 4oz of Long Staple Ginned Pima Cotton. This cotton is grown right here in the Gila Valley of Southeastern Arizona.

Spinning Ginned Cotton ~ to prepare the cotton for spinning, gently tease small amounts of the fiber by hand without pulling them apart or use fine tooth carders. The long draw works best for spinning cotton. Allow a small amount of twist to enter the fiber and then you can draw the cotton out further. Cotton does not require much twist to stay together.

Experiment by adding cotton to other fibers or spin a rustic, more textured yarn.

Ginned Cotton also makes a wonderful natural filling for handmade dolls and stuffed creations.

Doll Makers: In order to assist you in your calculations, I have photographed 1 ounce of ginned cotton both bagged and loose next to a stuffed doll. The doll in the photograph is 8.5" tall with legs that are 1.25" diameter and arms .75" diameter. The mid section or body of the doll is 2" and the head is 2.5" in diameter. I estimate that this doll would require 1.5 to 2 oz of ginned cotton to be tightly stuffed.
