You will receive the 25 heart-shaped red tags, pictured here. They measure approximately 2 x 2.5 inches, with a piece of white Merino wool included for use as gift tag. These plantable hearts would also make great favors or place cards for a wedding or other special event.

These tags have been made using recycled paper and a mix of shade perennials seeds. The seeds include baby blue eyes, baby’s breath, candytuft, larkspur, five spot (nemopila), clarkia, coreopsis, blue flax, forget-me-not, purple cone flower, shasta daisy, siberian wallflower and sweet william.

These tags began their life as a tree, then spent their second life as bills, junk mail and other forms of paper. I sorted through the paper and chose the highest-quality pieces to shred, make into a pulp and reform into a new piece of paper. (You have to start with high quality paper to end with high quality paper!)

Because I recycled previously manufactured paper, I have created new paper that already has sizing in it. This means that you can write on the tags and the ink won't feather or bleed. (One side of the tag is smooth for writing on.) After this paper has been used as gift tags or product hang tags, it can be planted and begin its fourth life as bed of gorgeous flowers!

Simply rake the soil, scatter the paper onto the soil, cover with 1/4 inch of topsoil, water and keep moist until germination, approximately 6 to 8 weeks.

Take a look at the last photo to see a sample of my plantable paper that is growing on my window sill! Each order comes with the following insert:

In this paper, little seeds lay asleep,
Waiting to be planted in soil 1/4 inch deep.
Water well then keep moist or 6 to 8 weeks.
Until little plants come out of the soil for a peek.
Many flowers will share their colors to the max.
Like baby blue eyes, purple cone flower and blue flax!

Frequently asked questions about PulpArt

Nope! Please read why I don't use these seeds in my plantable paper in my blog post here: http://paperandpulp.blogspot.com/2014/11/dont-eat-your-paper.html
I ship every day, Monday through Friday, via USPS First Class mail. I wait until the afternoon to take orders to the post office to capture as many orders as I can. (But I will go early in the day if my customer has a time issue like an Express Mail drop-off.) So it may take as long as 24 hours for your package to be shipped but it is often much less. And if you want to know a little secret, I live within walking distance from a post office so sometimes, and especially on nice days or if I have an errand to run, I will make a second trip to mail something if I get a sale late in the day. I often ship on Saturdays, even though I officially say that I ship Monday through Friday.
Yes! I make all of my handmade paper from 100% post-consumer waste. I rely on several different sources to supply me with paper scraps, which means the colors I have on hand can vary over time. I usually have a rainbow assortment of colors and have become quite adept at mixing and combining scraps to come up with custom colors but I can't always make every color. (Eggplant is a much-requested color that I have not managed to produce.) I can get very close to most colors, and have even almost exactly matched a few, too.
I do not wholesale my plantable products but I do wholesale my Petal People pressed flower art cards. Please inquire for more information.
Because of customs regulations for shipping live seeds to other countries, I do not offer international shipping on my plantable products but do ship my Petal People cards internationally.
Yes! I actually wrote an entire blog post about it that you can read here: http://paperandpulp.blogspot.com/2014/12/i-can-write-right.html
Because I get so many donation requests, I have had to limit those charities to whom I donate. I now only donate locally, and to companies and charities with whom my family is directly involved.
Yes! As long as you store as suggested above, your seeds will be fine. But remember that seeds are living things. The longer it takes you to plant them, the more their viability will decrease over time. I recommend planting them within 18 months of purchase.
Yes! However, I am very selective who I give my products to, and I don't give them very often. I will need proof of a certain amount of consistent readership, as well as evidence of cross-promotion on social media, and a well-established presence in either the crafting world, wedding market or another audience that hits my target customer base.
I don't. Believe it or not, larger orders actually take more time than smaller ones. And because my paper making equipment gets tied up with bulk orders, it slows down my production time for all new orders. (Plus, it's just me making, photographing, writing, packaging and mailing everything in this one-woman business.) I do have a handful of stores that purchase from me at my prices and then mark up my items to sell in their brick and mortar stores.
