Description

Trent Agate, Willamette County, Oregon, USA

This fine agate with psuedomorphs of agate after stibnite occurred on a ranch outside of Eugene, Oregon. Collectors were permitted to come on the land and mine the material but as the hole got deeper it caved in on a rockhounds leg and he sued the farmer! That was the end of mining there.

No new material has come on the market for many decades now.

In this specimen the antimony sulfide, stibnite, has been completely replaced with the red arsenic sulfide realgar and in the upper right by the yellow arsenic sulfide orpiment.

This is a gorgeous slab that is very different from my other Dryhead specimens with its large band of translucency. Great to hold up to the light! A nice full face slab with great pinks and contrasts with the delicate darker fortification bands. Thanks for great specimens.
