Description

A thangka, a Tibetan tangka, a representative of Tsong Khapa, a line of yellow bonnets
It is a Nepalese thangka from Tamang school in the Kathmandu valley, from the 1980s

Tsongkhapa, Lama Tsong Khapa or Je Tsongkhapa (1357-1419), whose religious name Lobsang Dragpa was born in Tsongkha on the site of the future monastery of Kumbum in Amdo, a province in north-east Tibet, was a scholar, Revered professor and founder of the gelug branch of Tibetan Buddhism.
It is believed to have been guided by the bodhisattva Manjushri.
