Description

This rare bracelet features six panels, each hand painted in exquisite miniature detail. Each panel inset offers a unique floral portrait accompanied by a brief verse written in kanji (Japanese characters).

The years have been kind to this rare piece, and while there is slight fading due to the natural pigments used, the portraits and the bone insets that serve as their canvas are in wonderful condition.

All of the original links between panels are present and each panel is straight and solid with no dents or damage to the hand-worked silver. The filigree on the clasp is in excellent condition and the clasp itself is in perfect working order.

For hundreds of years, Japanese culture and fashion didn't really include bracelets or finger rings as part of every day adornment. Prior to the WWII Reconstruction era, those few jewelers who made such pieces generally made them for honored European guests to enjoy. This bracelet is documented as an example of Japanese artistry created in the 1930s. The photos include the reference documentation.

The length is 7 inches, not including the locking end of the clasp. The silver content is not marked but is likely to be .950 Fine rather than .925 Sterling as that was the standard among Japanese silversmiths of that era.

**Our fine jewelry is always boxed for shipping.**

Please take your time with the photos I have provided and consider them part of the description. This is the actual item you will receive, as-is, exactly as you see here. Please let me know if you have any questions and feel free to check out the many treasures available in my shop.
