About DENDO:
In Japanese, the word "dendo" means "missionary work." While I was an LDS sister missionary in Japan for 18 months, I drew a comic page every day as my journal. DENDO explores the ups and downs of finding people to teach the gospel, encountering a brand-new culture, and making lifelong friends. A charming story overall. It's interesting to see what the daily life of a sister missionary in Japan is like, particularly going through some of the big recent changes (lowering the missionary age & and adding women to leadership councils).

Be aware that it is billed as a memoir, but really it's a journal -- it is her unedited daily journal that she wrote and illustrated at the time. It would probably be a more interesting read if she'd written it retrospectively and had crafted it into a story. As it is, it's a little choppy -- each page is kind of a "here's what I did today" scene. But it's interesting nonetheless.
