Rust having obliterated every molecule of paint that once covered this abandoned Dodge Coronet does little to detract from the handsomeness of the old automobile in this classic car photo; the Coronet's colour is gone, but the steel is in very fine shape indeed. The '49 Dodge is covered from nose to tail in multicoloured oxidation: orange, ochre, red, chocolate brown. The texture of the rust is rendered crisply in the photograph, reminiscent of a sort of rough metal velvet.

Despite the car's sixty-plus years of life and the rust all over her body, the chrome on the Dodge, from the grille to the windshield trim, is in nearly perfect shape, considering the car's seemingly abandoned state. Gone are the car's headlights; as we see in the photo, the right lamp still has its silver chrome cup, but the left side's is gone, revealing still more rusty metal beneath, giving the old car a slightly cockeyed look.

Though I of course love photographing vintage cars in show-car shape, I find shooting abandoned, rusty old cars just as rewarding; while the gleaming perfection of showcars reveals the hours of work invested by their owners, beat-up beauties like this Coronet hide none of their past. Nothing has been fixed, nothing repaired; they are what we see, yet none the less proud or handsome for the broken glass, and rust.

The beautiful lines of the cars from the 1940s and 1950s remain beautiful until the last bit of steel flakes off into the grass when the car is utterly reclaimed by nature. I hope that's not the fate of this Dodge Coronet, of course—but I'm sure glad I was able to find and photograph her before someone does snap her up (at the fair price of $500, if you're interested) and return her to her intended state!

• The limited-edition vintage car photo you receive will not be watermarked.

• I personally sign & number the back of each art photograph. After 776 prints are made, the edition is closed and the photograph will no longer be available for sale.

• My photographs are professionally printed at the highest resolution on archival photo paper with a matte finish to be smudge, fade, and water resistant.

• Very few of my vintage car photographs are a standard print or frame size; thus each print has a slender white border surrounding the photograph itself. This border not only allows you to buy a frame 'off the rack', but serves to lend a bit of additional protection to the actual photograph itself from any serious damage.

• A signed Certificate of Authenticity is included with each photo print.

• Signed photographs are carefully wrapped in acid-free tissue, sandwiched between pieces of foam core, and mailed First Class. Once I have a tracking number, it will be sent to you.

• My monitor is professionally calibrated for colour; therefore, the colours in your received print may be slightly different from what you see displayed online.

As few of my finished photographs are standard frame size, each of my photographic prints has a white border all the way around the image. This not only means you can buy a frame 'off the rack' if you do not want a custom frame, but the white border does protect the image itself from errant fingerprints or other unintentional damage.
Since these photographs are my own interpretation of the sights as seen by me, I am sorry, but I generally will not make a colour photo black & white or vice-versa. Occasionally during post-production I'll be unable to decide which I like better and publish both, but while it does happen, it's not often, and the image I do release is not arbitrary, but the one I think best suits the subject and composition. Thanks for understanding this.
