Description

Glorious old paper and so pretty! This listing is for 5 vintage tags pictured in first 2 photos. Lots more available and to be listed. Some samples shown in other photos. See IDEAS for using these below!***
Just doesn't get any more nostalgic and special than someone ahead of their time, repurposing vintage Christmas cards from the 1940s-60s into charming, handmade gift tags! So much care and attention was given and there is a sweetness factor off the scale! It appears that images were cut off old cards as well as the vintage messages that were inside them. Some have messages, some are blank depending on the listing. (See photos) I imagine these cards were used so they repurposed the images and messages to omit the signatures Now they are unused tags! The result is plethora of wonderful original images. Found in an old Standard Knitting Mill box, the "repurposer" used original old cards, precisely cut in scallops and some also have the sweet old messages from the cards. Some were carefully pasted onto other paper while others used only the card paper. Also a hole was punched for stringing onto a package on the back page of the tag as not to show from the front. Meticulous attention to detail. A few will have evidence on back that they were glued to a scrapbook but having a spot where top layer of paper is fuzzy. (Scrapbooking cards was a common practice.) Others may be a tad puckered from glue. I found a stash of these and am mesmerized! I have quite a large collection of vintage Christmas cards myself and the illustrations from old cards used in these tags are some of the prettiest I've seen. S ome have a definite mid century flair while others evoke an art deco ambiance. If you have a fav image you want, convo me and I can search through and see what I can put together for you! Samples would be Santas, snowmen, village scenes, church scenes, angels. etc. No odors or mold.
THIS listing is for the 5 tags shown. Above I gave a general description of how they were made and conditions. If you have any specific questions about these, please convo me.
***IDEAS

- Tie to jar treats or baked goods
- Tie to baskets, mugs filled with goodies
- Place on a bedside table with a sweet message for your holiday guest, maybe with a treat!
- Use as place cards
- Tie them to treats in a stockings as if left by Santa. Since he's been around awhile, he probably has lots of vintage cards. (:
- Let the children leave a note to Santa on one.
- Tie around party treat bags
- Tie them on an evergreen garland to drape on your mantel.
- Put under a piece of flat glass to make a foundation for your table centerpiece.
-Tie them on a wreath on a door protected from the elements.
-Tie to the branches of your Christmas tree to see the sweet images glow in the tree lights! This is especially pretty with the tags that are made from cards with their original glitter.
- Put them inside a jar facing out and add other vintage Christmas items inside behind the image, like Shiny Brite Christmas ornaments or candy canes.
- Tuck one or tape one to a mirror.
- Use as part of a Christmas general store vignette. I do one of these every year! If interested, read the following special note!

SPECIAL NOTE:
Last Christmas I made a wonderful Christmas Dept/General store vignette at my antique desk. I used vintage seals, cards, ribbons, gift wrap, candles, a dept store santa, etc to set up a display that made you feel you were back in time. It brought a nostalgia and comfort to my den. The glow of candle light at night made it even more cosy and charming. You could do this on a table, desk, shelf, a chair in a corner, etc. In SeaSeaRider, I have assembled some items that would work well for this. Search my shop for "general store". Recently listed items will be tagged with this but you also need to look in my vintage sections of Christmas Decor & Christmas Cards to see more choices.
***SHIPPING NOTE*** I will do my best to combine shipping on any multiple purchases. Convo for rate or if you don't want to wait, check out and know I will do my best to refund thru Paypal. I am unable to put that automatically on my shipping rates since I carry such a wide range of items in my shop.
SeaSeaRider specializes in seashell/beach/nautical vintage and original art and home decor but also a variety of "other" inspired themes. As a sampling, I have old coral, shells, sea fans, seashell bookplates that make unique affordable art, ship themed items, books, bird & botanical bookplate prints, old wooden letterpress, sea=themed original & vintage jewelry, my handmade sea signs called "Sea Shingles", vintage Christmas & Valentines, etc.
Come on over for a mini vacation! Much to inspire you to decorate, create, or gifts for the hard to buy for vintage and/or ocean lover!
