Description

Lovely brass tray, with a hint of Art Deco , embossed with a copy of an embossed version of the Joshua Reynolds painting:-
A Child’s Portrait in Different Views: ‘Angel’s Heads’ now residing in the Tate Gallery in London.
A copy of the painting can be seen here:- http://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/reynolds-a-childs-portrait-in-different-views-angels-heads-n00182
The five year old Lady Frances Gordon sat for Reynolds for this unusual portrait in July and August 1786, and again in March 1787, and Reynolds produced the painting with 5 different studies of her.
The brass image on the tray really highlights the beauty of the engraving, with it's deep relief, and we have photographed it in different lighting conditions to demonstrate the lovely detail. Photo 5 is of the rear of the tray
Being such deep relief it is probably much more of a piece of decor for display, than a practical serving tray, or with the use of a small adhesive hook on it's rear face, it would make a treasured, and an attractive wall plaque.
It is in First Class condition, with no dents or bent corners, and has an ideal patina
It measures 26 cm by 18 cm, and weighs 195g
