Description

Clear vintage pressed glass vase, designed by Adolf Matura in 1970

This mid-century modern vase is made from clear glass but has a tinge of yellow when compared with other clear glass.

It was made at the Rudolfova glassworks and is pattern no 13284/16.

It is referenced on page 114 of Mark Hill's book 'Sklo' where it states:

"This design was also produced as a small candleholder....and can be found in the many different colours produced by the factory. Of simple and typically sculptural form, the curving shape is echoed in the scooping corners. Eschewing moulded surface pattern and organic themes at a time when both were either fashionable or becoming more common, Matura relies on stark geometricity and line to come up with a highly original design. The design is also highly functional and practical, and also follows the general trend for maximising the optical effects of the material."

************************************************************************

The vase is:

16cm (6.5 inches) high;
12cm (5 inches) wide;
8cm (3 inches) deep;
and weighs 1.5 kg (3.5 pounds).

The vase is in good vintage condition with no cracks or scratches. There are a lot of chips underneath the base and a spot of brown staining (See picture 4) but as these are underneath the vase, they are barely visible. There is also a very small bruise on the rim and this has been taken into account when pricing.

Please feel free to get in contact to ask any questions or to find out about any other Vintage Glass items.
