Description

I am pleased to present a flower bead necklace of cocowood* beads. The beads are flat carved flower shaped, the large cream ones are flecked with brown spears, and the small dark brown beads are flecked with lighter coloured spears. They are alternately strung and knotted onto brown hemp cord.

It is an open length necklace with a plaited strand tie backs which are self-tied to the length of necklace preferred. The brown cord the beads are knotted onto, is joined by a natural hemp cord with a metallic strand running through it to complete the plaited strands.

I guess my inspiration for this necklace would be the hippy necklaces of yesteryear, slightly before my time you understand but nevertheless a nice nostalgic throwback ;-)

Closure: Tie the plaited cord strands to close the necklace at the length required, from a short collar or choker to a longer length necklace.

Measurement: The necklace is adjustable measuring from 14 inches/35.5 cm upwards. The cream beads measure around 1"/2.5cm and the dark brown 1/2"/1.5cm.

Materials: Cocowood beads, brown hemp cord, natural hemp cord with metallic strands.

*Cocowood or coconut palm tree wood, is described as an ethical alternative to endangered hardwoods. However, coconut palm wood is not a true 'wood' and would better be described as coconut palm fibre. It is the outer high density fibre of the tree that is comparable to the properties of hardwoods. The wood is harvested from senile trees, that is when a tree has passed it's fruit bearing age at around 60-80 years. The trees are felled and new ones planted in its place. It sounds a bit sad.

Unisex.
