Description

Rare Iittala Aslak Tallboy Glasses in Tawny-Smoke Smokey-Topaz
Aslak glassware designed in 1965

Pattern was designed by Tapio Wirkkala in 1965
Iitalla began selling them in 1972
by Sculptor & Designer Tapio Wirkkala for Iittala of Finland.

I have seen Clear, I have seen Lavender, I have seen Light Blue ... But I have never seen Aslak in a Smokey Brown before.

The minute I brought these home, I washed them up and poured a tall glass of ... very watered-down grape juice ... imagine instead that what I drank was something Earth shattering-ly cool (I was dehydrated). I can attest to the Joy of using these glasses for bigger beverages.
They hold 11oz of hydrating liquids. I then poured a Mango infused Coconut Water ... Later came cooled Black Currant & Green Tea w/ a smidgen of Agave ... I could go on.

The best part of drinking out of these glasses is the very sculptural feel of the glass in your hand. You feel the texture of bark that looks like ice. The Textural-Ombré of Crystal starts in high irregular-relief at the base and then gradually fades to become more subtle till the glass is rounded and smoothed at the rim. Applause is not optional

Very 1970s vibe to them in the Best possible ways.
And as they were Designed in 1965 but not released until 1972 - I can see that they are entirely Of The Era !

Approximate Measurements:
5.75" height x 3" rim-diameter
