Description

MOODY (OOAK)

A mellow go-with-everything tonal grey. This one of kind colorway contains a nearly invisible tinge of rose here & there.

 Worsted weight base
 100% superwash Peruvian Highland wool - durable!
 220 yards, 100 grams (about 3.5 ounces)
 Easy care - machine washable (see FAQ for tips)

This is a fantastic all around working yarn with a bit more of a rugged feel than Merino wool. If you are sensitive to all but the softest wools, Peruvian Highland is better for items not worn right next to the skin. Because of its strength, this yarn is just as excellent for weaving as for knitting & crochet. It has great definition to show off textured stitches & cables beautifully. Wonderful for vests, hand bags, boot cuffs, teapot or cup cozies, place mats, pillow covers, mandalas, pet beds, even decorative rugs!

We specialize in the creation of variegated and speckled colorways with short color changes that are designed to delight you from the first to the final stitches of your project! Our techniques minimize pooling and spawn an array of shades and random patterns as the dye journeys throughout each skein. Colorways from the same dye pot will be similar but never identical. The yarn that ends up in your hands is its own original work of art 😊.

Our yarns are sold as tied skeins but we will wind a ready-to-use ball for a fee of $1.00 per skein. Just choose "Yes" under the Wound Ball option.

We do our very best to present accurate pictures of our colorways, but shades do vary depending on the monitor and device used for viewing.

Thank you so much for stopping by! We are grateful to offer joyfully dyed creations to our fellow yarn crafters.

FAQs

Only as a hobby :-) The yarns we dye for the shop are commercially spun.
Yes, we offer winding for a $1.00 fee per skein. The yarn can be pulled from the center or the outside. This option appears just below the title and item price in each listing.
Most of the time. If a skein is wound for dyeing, it is always re-skeined so the yarn dries thoroughly. Occasionally, skeins will become tangled in the dye bath and those are re-skeined as well. Spending hours trying to untangle yarn that you've paid good money for is unacceptable so we do our best to spare you this hassle.
Joining knots are inevitable in commercially spun yarns, but encountering them as you work a project can be frustrating. We don't like knots either, so rest assured that we check for them throughout the dyeing process. If knots are discovered and cannot be easily untied, the offending skein will either a) not be listed for sale, or b) offered at a reduced price with clear explanation. Now & then, a well disguised knot may escape our eagle eyes. If you find more than you deem acceptable (even if it's only one), please contact us and we'll gladly work out a solution with you.
If time allows, we can dye a new batch as long as the colorway is semi-repeatable. Please send a convo so we can discuss your needs. Keep in mind that although the same dyes are used, each new batch will always look different from the ones before. Because each skein is unique there may be noticeable differences within the same batch. It may take up to several weeks to process your order depending on the amount you need.
Sorry but we do not. However, if there are specific colors or combinations you'd like to see in the shop, we will always consider your suggestions!
Hand washing in cold water and drying flat is the very best way to care for your finished items. However, with a few precautions you can safely machine wash items made with superwash yarns. Zip your items into a mesh bag, set the cycle to gentle cold & add a few drops of mild detergent or wool wash. This extra TLC will keep colors bright longer, reduce pilling, and prevent your items from being pulled out of shape.
We use lightweight envelopes because they keep shipping costs economical (for you and us), and they are mailbox friendly. The exceptions are wound yarn cakes, international orders and larger orders. These are shipped in boxes and we use recycled materials whenever possible. If you would prefer your order to be shipped in a box instead of an envelope, please let us know.
This is because a shipping fee is included on each listing, but please don't worry. We charge shipping only for the first item you purchase and will promptly refund the overage on additional items.
Because wool is a natural fiber, slubs are normal. If we spot a slub, we give the yarn on either side a firm tug to be sure the slub has not created a weak spot. On the rare occasion that the yarn pulls apart, we will not offer that skein for sale. Sometimes plant debris caught in sheeps' wool will end up getting spun into the yarn. These fibers can be carefully picked out but if we spot them during the dyeing process, we will remove them.
