Description

Rattlesnake Pete’s Beard Balm and Pomade
One of Western Pennsylvania’s most notarized snake hunter and peddler was Peter Gruber aka “Rattlesnake Pete.” Born in 1858 in the Oil City area, he was the son of an oiler; one of nine children.
As the story goes, as a child he encountered an elder Indian woman from the Seneca peoples dragging behind her a rope and tied to it a dead rattlesnake. She passed on her trade of extracting the fatty oil from the snake which was used by those people to treat rheumatism, stiff joints and several other afflictions. Impressed by his interest she gifted him the snake’s skin.
As he grew into manhood, so had his beard, knowledge of the capture of these rattlers as well as application of the oil for folk remedy. Today we’re privy to the blend of essential oils, with hints of red cedar and pine, that helped mask his scent as he descended into the foot hills of Western PA.
Awaken the woodsman in you without the bite back.

Start with a small amount in the hand, massage into beard/hair wet or dry, style to desired look.
