Description

California State Agricultural Society medals awarded to a person named Clyde Holloway for building a Glider model airplane.

These were the early days in aviation pre World War 2. This contest took place in 1939 in California. From World War I through the 1950s, flying model airplanes were built from light weight bamboo or balsa wood and covered with tissue paper. This was a difficult, time consuming process that mirrored the actual construction of airplanes through the beginning of World War II.

This Medal is 45 mm and weighs about 1.4 OZ

Gild gold over Silver. The inscription reads: CLYDE HOLLOWAY GLIDER H.L. MODEL AIRPLANE CONTEST 1939

Medal is in good shape no problems a few nicks. A very interesting collectible for aviation enthusiasts.
