This Red Barn service plate is one in a series of collectible decorative plates designed by Dale Nichols for each month of the year. This plate is September and features a farmer bundling sheafs of wheat. Dale Nichols (1904-1995) was a leading American artist in the 1930's. He is famous for his barn paintings, a passion of his since his childhood days in Nebraska. These plates were produced for B. Altman and Co. of New York by Adams Pottery of England. Since this first edition was limited to 600 sets, they are difficult to come by. This plate would make a nice replacement or a starter plate for a collector. The plate has scratches/wear on the gold trim but no chips or cracks. There are a few tiny dark flecks on the surface, which may have occurred during manufacture. Please refer to the last enlarged photo which amplifies these imperfections. Made in the 1940's.

The plate is 10.5 inches in diameter. A wonderful display plate! B-dec.pl
