This is a fantastic cabinet card of Chauncey Olcott from the late 1880s or early 1890s. Chauncey Olcott was a famous singer and actor, who began his career by singing Irish Ballads. He also wrote a number of Irish songs himself. He wrote "My Wild Irish Rose" and co-wrote "Her Irish Eyes Were Smiling."

This appears to be a publicity photo since Mr. Olcott is in costume with a little girl and little boy who also appear to be in costume. It almost looks like the photo was taken on a stage set.

The photo was taken by Donovan Studios in New York, NY. The cabinet card measures 4.25"x6.5". The photo has some signs of age and wear. The corners are all rubbed and slightly worn from being handled, there is some spotting due to age, and there is one crack in the photo paper near the bottom of the image. The image is sharp and clear with fair contrast.

This is a great example of early publicity images and a wonderful piece of theater history. Enjoy!

As a mixed media artist, my wife and I are constantly traveling to flea markets, estate sales, and auctions. Over time, we have acquired more items than we can use, and so we are selling the rest here! In general, all of the items we sell will have some wear and age to them. Items may have some nicks, dings, tears, folds, and fading, and the photographs may have bent corners, be faded, etc. But because the items are vintage and/or antique, some wear should be expected. We will try to clearly identify all wear and damage to each item or group of items when they are listed. However, if you have any questions, please contact us before purchase because all items are being sold AS-IS.

All items are shipped carefully packed to arrive safely at your door. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have have.
