Description

Beautiful and stylish, this hand-held fan case has been made using a process of wet-felting the most gorgeous soft merino wool in blended shades of clementine, sunset yellow, and red poppy, with a few streaks of chocolate.

As a menopausal woman, I, along with many other women, struggle with the heat - and summers are even harder! I decided I needed to carry a fan in my bag to help keep cool – but battery-operated fans proved unsuccessful as the propellers snagged on things in my bag and came off, and when I tried to carry an ordinary hand-held fan, which takes up less room, the wooden struts caught up with other objects in my bag and broke off, ruining the fan.

That’s when I decided I needed a protective case to carry it in, so it would be compact and safe in my bag. I looked online, but there weren’t any, so I made one! Then I made more – this red, orange and yellow fan case is one of them (see last photo for the other colours available at the moment). It’s fully lined with a yellow cotton fabric so that the fan doesn’t snag on the wool as you slide it back in its case, and it’s sewn together at the back with a ‘kiss’ stitch (as I call it, because we love ourselves, right?!) 😊

But hand-held fans needn’t just be used by menopausal women! They're great for the beach, at weddings, and if you’ve been watching BBC’s Poldark series on TV you may have noticed both Elizabeth and Demelza using fans to stay cool – and this beautiful fan case comes complete with a free, black fabric and bamboo fan!

Fan case measures approximately 22cm x 5cm.
