Description

This stylish dress most likely dates from the early 1950's or New Look era. The 'bat wing' 3/4 length sleeves, shoulder pads, and long slender silhouette were popular during this period.

The dress is in good and wearable condition:

1) There are five small repairs on the front of the bodice: two near the left armpit, one just below the green V, one on the middle right, two on the shoulder. There is also one small repair on the back near the left armpit.

2) The dress is free of spots, holes, bad smells, or perspiration damage.

3) The hem is free of dirt, water damage, and frayed edges.

4) The zipper still functions.

5) There appears to minor pilling in the armpits.

Due to the fuzzy texture of the wool fabric, the pilling and repairs are hard to notice and are not noticeable to the casual observer.

All measurements are taken while the dress is lying flat on a table:

1) The bust is 15" (30").
2) The waist is 11" (22").
3) The hips are 14" (28").
4) The length of the sleeve from the top of the armhole to the cuff is 13".
5) The length of the bodice from the top of the shoulder to the waist is 16 1/2".
6) The total length from the top of the shoulder to the hem is 42".
7) The width of the shoulders on the back of the bodice is 15".
