Description

Absolutely gorgeous, classic and collectible 1950's Vernonware "California Shadows" Creamer, Sugar Bowl & Lid in Vernonware's Cocoa Brown color way featuring shades of brown, tan, a pinkish mauve and cream. Vernonware only produced California Shadows from 1953 to 1955 and it only came in two colors, Cocoa Brown and Antique Gray. The shape design is called San Marino.

Dimensions:
Sugar Bowl measures 7-3/8" long handle to handle, 4-3/8" diameter & stands 2-7/8" tall. Excellent Condition; no chips, no cracks, no crazing, no stains. Beautiful shiny glaze finish. Hallmarked on bottom.

Cream Pitcher Cream Pitcher measures 8-3/8" long spout to handle, 3-1/4" long & stands 2-7/8" tall. Excellent Condition; no chips, no cracks, no crazing, no stains. Beautiful shiny glaze finish. Hallmarked on bottom.

Vernon Kilns, an American ceramic company located in Vernon, California, was one of the "Big Five" California potteries. Formerly known as Poxon China, Faye G. Bennison purchased the pottery in 1931 and produced ceramic tableware, art ware, giftware, and figurines. In 1952, Elliot House was hired as art director and continued to work with outside contract artists and designers such as Jean Goodwin Ames and Sharon Merrill. In 1958, Vernon Kilns closed down their pottery production.
