Description

This listing is for a custom order for a CSP (cloth sanitary pad) in the (organic) JERSEY fabric shown in the picture. This item will be made for you and is not ready made. You can choose the size, shape and length from the drop-down menu.

I have set the delivery time to 4 weeks. This is just to be on the safe side and your order will probably be ready a lot earlier. Every order is subject to cancellation, in case I haven't got enough fabric left. I will, of course, let you know as soon as I can and then fully refund your order.

All orders will be posted First Class or First Class Recorded, unless stated otherwise. Proof of postage will be obtained.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EarthJunki pads and other products are all handmade in Hove, England. Handmade means imperfection rather than perfection, which adds to the charm of handmade products :-)

Fabrics are, where possible and financially viable, locally sourced. If they aren't locally sourced, we import from the US. We don't use fabrics from China, as their regulations are different, and we would rather pay more, than offer you a product which has an unethical background. We always keep our eyes out for organic fabrics - all Lillestoffe jerseys are organic.

We offer different sizes and shapes of pads, as well as different absorbency and different fabrics. Everyone is different and everyone has different preferences. If you are ordering for the first time, I can make you a starter set against a discount - this way you can find out what you like most. There is also a market for second hand cloth pads, so anything you don't like, is usually easy to sell via groups on Facebook. If you would like a starter set, please message me and I am more than happy to guide you through the options and make you a lovely set.

As pad toppers, we offer a variety of cotton, jersey, minky, cotton velour and bamboo velour.
Our backing is usually moisture resistant fleece, but we also use micro-fleece (mainly for regulars and liners) and soft shelled micro-fleece. The last one is relatively new, it's waterproof and very thin, but also more costly - this will be reflected in the price.

Most cores are made of Zorb2.

Most pads will come with two poppers each, unless I think adding another popper would be beneficial. If you prefer two poppers on each side of your pad, please let me know, and I will add an extra popper for you (at no extra cost).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How do I wash my pads?
All fabrics are tested at 40 degrees Celsius (with the exception of zorb, the core fabric). This doesn't mean you can't wash at 60c, but I can't guarantee that there won't be any shrinkage. Generally washing at 40c, or even at 30c, will be sufficient to get your pads clean and stain-free. If you do get stains, just use an ordinary stain stick or liquid, and they should come out fairly easily. Obviously you don't want to wash every pad separately. Most people 'save them up' until it's laundry day. This can either be done dry or wet. Put used pads in a 'wetbag', close the bag and once you want to wash them, rinse them with cold water and chuck them in the machine. Wet pailing; - chuck them in a bucket with salty water (to prevent stains setting), rinse once you want to wash them and then chuck them into the machine. Easy as that :-) Use your normal washing powder, tablet or eco-egg, but don't use softener. Softener covers the fibers of the fabric, making them less absorbent.

Always pre-wash your pads before first use. Even better - wash them a few times, this will increase their absorbency. In an absolute hurry and no time to pre-wash? Not a problem, all fabrics are washed before sewing them together, but as washing increases the absorbency, I always advise a pre-wash.

All fabrics I use are pre-washed in Fairy non-bio liquid or tabs, and then tumble dried.

We have two guinea pigs, but they don't come anywhere near my fabrics. No other pets.

FAQ

Why reusable sanitary products?
-Almost all disposable sanitary products are full of chemicals. Products like sanitary pads are close to your body and are touching your skin - these chemicals will actually go into your body till a certain degree. The multi-billion corporations who manufacture these products don't have to disclose information about what their products are made off. Pretty scary stuff! More about this you can read on my facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/EarthJunki

Yuk! Reusable sanitary products? That's just gross!
- No, it isn't. Nobody can see you are wearing a pad, nobody will see it in the washing machine either. After use, you can keep it either in a closed wetbag until laundry day, you can keep it in a closed bucket and leave it to soak. Unless you place this bucket in the middle of the living room, nobody will know!

How do I wash cloth sanitary pads?
-Rinse before you chuck them in the washing machine, then wash at 40 degrees max. Don't use fabric softener as this can affect the absorbency. Tumble dry on low heat or line dry. The sun is best - it will bleach the pads and get rid of stains (if there are any).

Which one should I buy?
-That totally depends on your flow. If you first start out it's a good idea to try a few different brands to see what size, fabric and shape you prefer the most. Absorbency wise it's a bit tricky. Again, try different absorbencies to see if it meets the requirements of your cycle.

Can I get a deal?
- yes, just ask.
