This is an adjustable vintage ring with ceramic cabochon center printed with a yellow rose and green leaves. Gold-toned and black (to appear aged) enameled metal frames the piece of ceramic. Attached to the back is an adjustable metal band. There are no maker's markings on this ring.

This piece is in very good vintage condition. Some of the gold-toned enamel has worn off the band and the tops of the prong settings, revealing the silver-toned base metal.

Etsy's definition of vintage is anything that is 20+ years old - as of now, pre-1999. The vast majority of vintage items have been used before and will display varying signs of wear. An effort is made to weed out newer items that are intended to look vintage. It can be very hard with certain types of items to truly know the age, even with extensive research.

An upcycled item is created with other (often used) items or parts of items. Sometimes upcycled items contain brand new items and parts, in addition to used. The upcycled items Retro Refined sells are made with vintage items and parts, as well as new.
All of Retro Refined's items are vintage or upcycled vintage and are listed as being in vintage condition. This means that it is not a new item or an item with all new parts. The condition of the item is further specified with the following terms (from worst to best):

Okay: Several flaws, but item still functions as intended and is usable.
Good: A few flaws, some may be visible during use.
Very good: A few flaws, most are not visible during use.
Excellent: Almost new condition, no flaws or one tiny flaw.

Descriptions of flaws will also be provided. Upcycled items will have a mix of conditions listed based on the parts used to create the item.

All customers are advised to read the entire item description and to message us with questions.
Because our items are used or have used components, they may have been exposed to smoke, pet dander, or other allergens in the past. Therefore, vintage items are not a good choice for someone with severe allergies. Some items will have an "old" or musty smell to them due to age, but this is different from the smell of mold/mildew.

All items are currently stored in a smoke-free environment. While they are in proximity to dogs and cats, there is no direct contact.
This depends on the item.

Jewelry: Almost all pieces are cleaned with a gentle jewelry cleanser or wiped with a damp cloth to remove dust. If an item is not at all cleaned (due to fragility), this will be in the condition notes.

Fabric Items: Fabric items are usually not washed. If an items is washed, it is hand-washed using a gentle detergent or soak and line dried.

Decor/Housewares: Glassware is gently hand-washed and hand-dried. Other non-porous items are also hand-washed or wiped with a damp cloth to remove dust. Washing/wiping an item is not done if it would risk damage (e.g. to a hand-painted design). This will be indicated in the condition notes.
Jewelry items are wrapped in a handkerchief or placed in a small bag. Gift wrapped jewelry items will also be placed in a black matte gift box. They are then wrapped in bubble wrap and mailed in a bubble mailer or small box.

Larger items will be wrapped in bubble wrap and packed in a box with more bubble wrap, packing peanuts, or newspaper.

Things such as scarves, gloves, and ties will be folded, wrapped in tissue paper, and mailed in a bubble mailer.

Handbags will be packed based on size, any breakable parts, etc. and could be sent in an extra padded bubble mailer or a box.

FYI: Some orders will be shipped with recycled/reused materials, such as boxes, mailers, and packaging peanuts. This helps to lower your shipping cost.
Due to movement, vibrations, and temperature changes during shipping it is possible for rhinestones (and other set stones) to loosen in their settings and sometimes even fall out of their settings. Additionally, the glue in vintage jewelry items is, many times, also vintage, so it is possible for its hold to break during shipping. Packages should be opened carefully in case stones loosened during shipping.

Stones are checked prior to shipping and items are wrapped to minimize impact. If an item arrives with a missing or loose stone (or other part), there are a couple of options. We can provide tips for re-gluing stones, if this something you want to do yourself. If not, returns are accepted in accordance with our return policy.
Because Retro Refined is based in the US, item prices and shipping prices do not include VAT or other taxes/duties/fees. If you will need to pay these in order to receive your package, you will be notified by your country's mail service. More information: https://www.etsy.com/help/article/5023

The customs form utilized by the USPS, and auto-filled by Etsy, will contain general information on the items in your order and the price paid for each item. This form is part of the shipping label on the outside of the package. Information on this form cannot be changed to avoid taxes and fees.

All international shipping prices include insurance. We do not ship to countries that the shipping insurance carrier does not cover.
Yes, Etsy will automatically calculate a combined shipping cost when you purchase more than one item from Retro Refined within the same order. You can see an estimate of the cost by adding the items you want to your cart and viewing the shipping section on your cart's page.

Occasionally, shipping costs are miscalculated, usually when ordering multiple items. If you are overcharged more than $1.00, you will be issued a refund for the difference. You will not be charged more if the shipping is undercharged, except in rare circumstances (like if you request special packaging).
Returns on most items are accepted. Please contact us within 14 days of receiving your order to work out the details. Returns should be sent back in the original shipping packaging within 30 days. Return shipping is at the expense of the buyer. Items not returned in the same condition as at time of sale will not be fully refunded.

In the case of items arriving to buyers damaged, a photograph of the damage will be requested prior to issuing any refunds.

Any other requests for refunds will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. We will always work with buyers to find solutions that are fair for both parties.
Gift wrap is available for select items, including most jewelry and other small accessories, for a reasonable fee. Gift wrap is not currently offered for large items due to the extra shipping costs.

The regular packaging for eligible items is a vintage handkerchief or a fabric bag with drawstring closure. The gift box option adds a black box with matte finish and a gold hand-stamped flower on the lid. An example photo of our gift boxes can be found in the About section.

Gift messages can be added to any order, even if you opt not to add a gift box. They are handwritten on a vintage postcard and can be added by selecting “This order is a gift” and then “Add gift message for free” in your shopping cart.
