Description

This pair of superb, vintage green glass beer bottles have seen lots of action in French bars and brasseries over the years. They date back from the 1930s when this type of beer bottle was common all over France, refilled and reused systematically.

Great decorators items or collectors pieces.

These bottles have been embossed with the names of the merchants and location of the brewery.
One is slightly smaller than the other and reads: BRASSERIES LAUBENHEIMER NERAC.
(Nérac is a commune in the Lot-et-Garonne department in south-western France)

the larger reads: BRASSERIE DE SAINT YRIEIX, HOLDERER, HAUTE VIENNE, PROPRIETE DE LA BRASSERIE.
(Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche is a commune in the Haute-Vienne department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in west-central France.)
They have the merchants names marked on the ceramic stoppers too, which still work - although they are obviously a little rusty and the rubber is slightly degraded.

The scratches give them a fabulous, authentic patina - I think they are 'aged to perfection'

The larger bottle stands 30.5cms /12" (to the stopper) and is 6.7cms/ 2½" diameter at the base.
The slightly smaller one stands 29cms/ 11½" tall (to the stopper) and is also 6.7cms/ 2½" diameter at the base.

They are utterly charming.

I am happy to combine postage, where possible, on any multiple purchases made, and I will refund any shipping overages.
