Dimensions

Length: 7.75 Inches; Width: 4.5 Inches; Height: 1.75 Inches

This Mid-Century wooden box with sunflower enameled copper inset was originally intended as a way to beautifully store cigarettes atop one's coffee table or desk. With a hinged lid and two compartment storage, it would make a wonderful jewelry box or place to stash trinkets and treasures.
Bovano of Cheshire, Connecticut was, and still is, well known for their work with enameled copper. The inset copper panel on the top of the box is an excellent example of their craft. The panel features three bright yellow enamel sunflowers with beautiful clear enamel centers that reveal the copper metal beneath. Flowers standout against a very 1960s chartreuse/yellow-green enamel field all of which harmonizes so nicely with the rich tones of the wooden box.
Interior of box bears a Bovano sticker.

As visible in photographs, wood is in need of some conditioning and bears some discoloration on the lid and minor surface wear throughout. Base of box, as captured in the ninth photograph, has separated slightly from the box itself. Bottom of box bears outlines of now missing circular felt feet.
Hinge is in good working order and is stiff enough that the lid stays open on its own.

Box measures approximately 7 3/4" by 4 1/2" by 1 3/4" tall.
Interior compartments measure approximately 3 1/4" by 3 1/2" by 1" deep.

Additional policies

Each item in our shop is described to the best of our ability and with the knowledge we have gained from years of collecting and researching. Please purchase items for what you think them to be and ask any questions you may have before purchasing.
As most of our items several decades old, thus earning the moniker "vintage," they have been used and loved by someone else before coming to us. As a result, many show their age and wear from use. We do our best to accurately represent the condition of each item-- please carefully review item descriptions and photographs (enlarge them for a closer look!).

We are not trained as jewelers but we do have the ability to test for metal content and often we are able to electronically test diamonds. Gemstone type described is often our best estimate.

All items are store in and shipped from a pet friendly (dogs and cats) and smoke-free environment.
