Coconut Oil- Coconut oil helps to improve skin hydration, reduce dryness, and protect the skin from UV radiation. The lauric acid content in coconut oil has antimicrobial properties that can aid in protecting against harmful microorganisms and the growth of bacteria that causes many types of skin infections such as acne, cellulitis, folliculitis, and athlete’s foot. Coconut oil may also help relieve inflammation by improving antioxidant status, which works by stabilizing free radicals in the body and neutralizing the reactive atoms that contribute to inflammation. Studies have shown coconut oil to increase levels of collagen, an important protein that aids in wound healing while at the same time, preventing infection that could complicate the healing process.
