Description

This ancient Norse rune is a love charm to be gifted from a woman to a man which would make it an ideal gift on Valentine’s Day or as a birthday present to a partner. With it’s special meaning it could also be an ideal present on a Wedding Day or Anniversary.

This piece has been made using three separate earthenware clay pieces which have been linked together using a combination of leather and turquoise cords so that it can be hung on a wall. Small pieces of semi-precious turquoise stones have been attached to the leather cord with copper wire to create a contrast in colour. The symbol has been etched into the clay using a cross-stitch technique and then holes have been pierced into the lines to allow the colour of the wall to show through. With the pierced holes, this piece will also look very effective hung on a window so that daylight can shine through (although please note the rune is only visible from one side). The texture of the piece has been highlighted with a wash of red iron oxide which remains darker in the detail and gives the piece an overall aged leather look.

The ceramic parts of this piece measure 16cm x 13cm and the cord to hang the piece measures approximately an additional 10.5cm.
