Description

#4 & #5 have sold.

This listing is for your choice of ONE cabochon; there are 6, varying colors available. I have numbered each. When you order, please just tell me which number(s) you would like to purchase.

Many years ago, while on a buying trip to New England, I had the chance to buy some beautiful, late 19th Century art glass jewels used for making jewelry. Rhode Island was the center of the costume jewelry industry in the USA. That's where these were being sold. I suspect that they were made in Czechoslovakia, as that was where most of the beautiful jewelry art glass of the period was created.

There is only one of each jewel as these were from a salesman's sample case. I bought a lot of them, as I had never seen anything quite like them. I have seen very few of them since. These would be very special for any jewelry maker. I hope some one can put them to good use.

They are still on their original backing. They came on display sheets. I cut the squares in order to be able to store them safely. There are six colors available. All but the pink one have an illusive blue flash that chases through the glass when moved in the light. Just like with Dragon's Breath and Saphiret, the blue is hard to capture in photos. The red butterfly is taken at a strange angle to show the blue. You can see little bits of it in other photos, but not as defined. Where you see blue in the photos, that is real. I repeat, the pink one does not have this blue effect.

I have included a quarter to indicate size. They measure 7/8" (2.2cm) on each side. They are modified squares with corners cut.

They are in very good, original antique condition. No chips, scratches or cracks. These are so much prettier in person. Made into a pendant, they would be a stand out piece of jewelry. And, they are one of a kind.

Combined shipping is available.
