4 X 6 Saint Anthony of Padua Byzantine Folk Icon Print on Wood
Materials: print, wood, varnish, metal hanger
Saint Anthony of Padua is particularly well known for helping you find lost things based on a story about his book of psalms that were stolen. He had all sorts of notes in the book, making it very valuable to him. He asked God to help him find it. Not only did the thief inexplicably bring it back, but also reconciled and returned to the order.
Saint Anthony is often pictured with little kid Jesus because he used to have visions of him.
And with a Bible for his devotion to scripture.
He was also called the hammer of heretics because of his love for going to areas where heresies had grown strong and preaching against them.
He was such a good orator that in one town, he preached before a lake and the fish came out to listen.
His tongue, which was so good at sharing the gospel, has remained, incorrupt. Certainly one of the more unusual relics! 😳

I love my icon! Perfect size for my needs. Looks great!
This is the first time I'm actually celebrating Advent, so wanted something kinda memorable. I was going for the "Made in China" battery operated candles, and wreath from Amazon, but decided it would be better to support someone who is creative and actually celebrates the holiday as I am winging it. I ordered these candles kinda late for the season (Nov. 19th), but arrived a few days into Advent (12/01), and was happy with how quickly they, and awesomely they were made. I struggled for two weeks (no lie) to decide on what to buy, then stumbled (maybe God pushed me?) upon these. I have absolutely no regrets. I was sold when I saw store front with the Byzantine Mary (Side A: Pregnant Mary; Side B: Mary holding Baby Jesus), and St. Joseph, of course. I bought the set and just put it up...minus a wreath. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I love this image. Beautifully painted. It's perfect for what I purchased it for.
I too grew up with icons all gold and I never liked the style, believing as I do that neither would Christ. Dorothy Day, my hero, certainly would not. So I adore your simple creations.
