Description

A Set of 5 Identical Welsh Language Christmas Cards - 'Nadolig Llawen o Bontypridd'.

Each of the 5 cards come with a white envelope and are wrapped separately in cellophane wrappers.

This is the description of the card design:

A Welsh Language Christmas Card from Pontypridd, Wales. The greeting on the front of the card reads 'Nadolig Llawen o Bontypridd' which translates as 'Merry Christmas from Pontypridd'.

The card is a print of a pen and ink drawing of the Old Bridge in Pontypridd.

This bridge was built on the fourth attempt by mason William Edwards in 1756, who in order to lighten the weight of the bridge, designed the three cylindrical voids or 'holes' on either side. At that time, it was the longest single-span bridge in Great Britain, with a span of 43m. The design was successful and over 260 years later, the bridge is still standing strong today.

Also visible in the background is the Malsters Arms, and also the Victoria Bridge that was built in 1857 by Thomas Jenkins to help relieve traffic congestion. The Victoria Bridge has three masonry arches and today takes all the vehicular traffic whilst the Old Bridge is used only as a footbridge.

The Old Bridge is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and is Grade 1 listed.

There is a celtic knotwork and holly border surrounding the sketch, and bright red lettering with the message 'Nadolig Llawen o Bontypridd'.

On the inside of the card there is the message 'Cyfarchion y Tymor' which translates as 'Season's Greetings'.

If you live in the Pontypridd area this card is ideal to send to loved ones who live away, or to someone who is originally from Pontypridd themselves.

The card measures 5" x 7" (127mm x 178mm).

The Set of 5 Cards will be posted via Royal Mail 1st class delivery and sent in a hard backed ensure their safe arrival.
