Description

This is a Hartmann Vintage Tan Belting Leather Expandable Briefcase. This case has its original shoulder strap and leather I.D. tag. This case has gold tone hardware.

The front of the bag has two zipper pockets. One has a beautiful leather organizer in it with leather slip in pockets, card slot, a phone pocket and key chain leash. The outside of the bag has a full wrap around zipper that expands this case giving you a couple of extra packing inches. The main compartment is roomy with a lot of packing space . Behind this area is another large packing area. At the back is an expanding files section with two separate compartments. The back of the bag has as full length open pocket on the back. The carrying strap is detachable and adjustable with a wide comfort pad. In lieu of using the strap you can use the nylon and leather carrying handles.

The approximate measurements are:

Length: 17 inches
Height: 12 inches
Width: 7 inches at base-- (expandable )
Shoulder Strap: 50 in

Condition:

This bag is beautifully worn but not totally distressed like other bags of this nature currently listed on Etsy. The leather is in great shape, However, like most vintage bags there are some flaws. The bottom beading has some minor wear and there are some dark stains on the bottom (see collage photo 5 and photo 7) This is from placement of the bag on rough concrete surfaces that tend to tear into the leather. However, these are very minor and present no threat to the structural integrity of the bag. There are no holes or tears in the bag itself creating any structural issues. There are some scuffs, scratches and white spots on the bag. There are some dark lines on the leather that may be scuffs or water marks or may be part of the natural grain of the leather. Please use magnifier zoom on photos 1, 4 and 5 to examine front and back of bag. The handle is darker than other parts of the bag due to prior use. However, for the most part the bag is in beautiful shape. Please see photos for best depiction of condition of this bag.

This is the same Hartmann style briefcase I use for my daily law practice. I have never been happier with a briefcase than I have with my Hartmann case of this same style. I provides all the space, organization and class I could ask for in a briefcase and I don't think I will ever replace it with a different one.

Hartmann has been manufacturing leather goods since 1877. We have magazine ads from 1982, 1986 and 1992 promoting Hartmann bags manufactured with the similar material, trim style and design. Based on the materials used in the construction of this bag and the style, it is my opinion this bag was manufactured sometime in the 1980s to early to mid 1990s.

About Hartmann

Hartmann began in 1877 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by trunkmaker Joseph S. Hartmann, a Bavarian. Hartmann eventually moved its headquarters to Lebanon, Tennessee. Hartmann Luggage was sold to Samsonite in May 2012 and the Factory and Head Office in Lebanon closed in December 2012.

IT'S THE REAL THING PLEDGE. If we sell it, it's the real thing. We guarantee it's the real thing or you get your money back including your delivery costs we this pledge:

GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC OR ALL MONEY BACK. We understand there are counterfeits and knockoffs of vintage products by well known manufacturers for sale all over the internet and in other market places. We use multiple procedures to assure the products we sell are authentic. One procedure we use is to research authenticity through vintage manufacturer catalogs and to report our research in the listing. Sometimes we include a snippet from the catalog to corroborate our research and educate you about the history of the bag. The purpose of reporting what the manufacturer says about its product in the catalog is to verify our research on the authenticity and to educate you about how a vintage product was portrayed in the past. It is not intended to hold our shop out as a representative of the manufacturer. However, if it turns out we are wrong or our research is not correct we guarantee that if we sell you a product represented to be manufactured by a reputable company like Coach, Cole Haan, Ghurka, Filson, Christian Dior, Hartmann, Gucci, or any other company and you have competent evidence that the product is not authentic we will refund your purchase price and delivery cost. In addition, we will pay for return postage.
