Description

This is a complete 10-volume set of the 1930s-40s Heath-Chicago French Series edited by Otto F. Bond. Each book contains a woodcut illustration by German-American artist Edmund Giesbert.

The blue soft canvas-cover booklets are staple-bound, flexible and durable.

The texts consist of re-told classics in French, using limited, glossaried vocabulary for the French learner. The books increase in difficulty through the series, 1-10.

Series editor, Otto F. Bond offers a chatty little "Entre Nous" (Between Us) introduction to each book. The intros are in English.

The little books range between 50-135 pages each

1 Sept-d'un-Coup (A retelling of Alexander Dumas tale)
2 Aucassin et Nicolette ( " of Alexandre Bida)
3 Les Chandeliers de l'Eveque (Episodes des Miserables of Victor Hugo)
4 Les Pauvres Gens (4 stories from Maupassant, Daudet, Bazin and Bordeaux)
5 L'Attaque du Moulin (from Emile Zola)
6 L'Evasion du Duc de Beaufort (from Dumas)
7 L'Anglias tel qu'on le parle" (from Tristan Bernard and Quelque Anecdotes)
8 Contes (Stories from Mendes, Saint Jur, Pouvillon, Coppee, Erckmann-Chatrain)
9 La Grammaire (from Eugene Babiche)
