This roller skate box is simply fabulous -- dark green metal on the outside and dark green wood on the inside, with a worn leather handle (still sturdy, but very worn -- more suede now than leather). The box measures approximately 14.75 inches wide by approximately 11 inches high by approximately 6 inches deep. I believe this box to be from the 1930s, or possibly the 1940s.

On the front of the box is the painted image, in orange and cream, of a male and female couple roller skating -- she is wearing a cute little skating dress, and he is wearing a suit! Beneath the couple is the word "Name", but the previous owner did not write her name in that space.

On the back of the box is a vintage sticker featuring another, similarly dressed skating couple. The sticker says "Artistic Skating", as well as "Chicago" and "Armory Roller Skating Rink, Scranton, Pennsylvania".

The box is in good condition, with some dings and scratches which only add to its character. The hinges and clasp work well. This box shows such history, and would look AMAZING displayed in your home!

The skates are also included! They are womens skates, marked with "5" on the bottom (I wear a size 6, and they look about right to fit me). They may be ok to skate on, but I don't know -- if you are buying them to actually use, please be aware that you do so at your own risk. The skates seem to be in good condition, with the wear expected on an item of its age. The leather is still supple, and the soles are made of wood and have a little heel. The wheels are either wood or hard rubber, and one wheel shows more wear (chipping to its edges) than the others.

Also included is a small cylinder of ball bearings, evidently sent through the mail, as there is an old postal label on the cylinder addressed to "Miss Doris I. Abbey" -- presumably the previous owner of the skates and box. Also included is a skate key, as well as seven metal pieces that look like washers (I have no idea what they are) and some sort of worn rubber strap with snaps.

This is truly a wonderful box and skate set to add to your collection and display in your home -- it is sure to get lots of comments and compliments!

** PLEASE NOTE -- this item is quite heavy, hence the shipping cost. If I find that I have overestimated the shipping cost by more than $1, I will refund the shipping difference to the buyer.
