The author (that would be me, of course), spent ten years living at Kurenai Kai for half the year, stitching in the workshop, so she could preserve the knowledge of this stunning craft and pass it on to those who would like to pursue it. This book was written to ensure that students of Japanese embroidery have every scrap of information that I acquired during my 30 years of arduously making every single possible mistake...often more than once.

The 592 pages are not gloriously illustrated with lavish color photos, but instead contain a wealth of diagrams, charts, and explanatory text that describe every facet of Japanese embroidery stored in my well-used brain cells.

Physically, the books is 8.5 x 5.5," and you will need to purchase a binder to contain the punched pages. The book is best used with a live teacher to walk you through the basics, which can be quite intimidating.
