Description

Beautiful vintage bracelet charm designed as a bicycle rickshaw. The rickshaw came from Japan in the mid 1800s, but was quickly adopted throughout China and India as well. It went a long way to resolve transportation issues and unemployment in the burgeoning populations. In doing so, it became a symbol of both comfort and ingenuity in that part of the world.

This charm is from the 1960's. The pulled rickshaw was around for a century beforehand, but the bicycle rickshaw steadily gained popularity in the post-World War 1950's. By the 60s, it had earned it's place in charm bracelet history. This quality and detail of this piece is certainly on the mark for charms made in that time period.

The piece is 3 dimensional and articulated; The wheels all turn and the front wheel/handlebars turn from side to side. There is a very small amount of patina remaining on this charming rickshaw to highlight the texture and detail, but for the most part the form is clearly defined. If you prefer to polish more thoroughly, it will certainly shine for you. It is roughly .5 inches tall .75 inches wide and weighs 3 grams in sterling silver.

**Our fine jewelry is always boxed for shipping.**

Please take your time with the photos I have provided and consider them part of the description. This is the actual item you will receive, as-is, exactly as you see here. Please let me know if you have any questions and feel free to check out the many treasures available in my shop!
