Description

Victorian Gold Bracelet with Monogram Bates & B

This great little gem was probably made from the 1880-1920's

Made in Boston Mass.
It is a hinged style bangle with the moving parts located under the oval shaped disc in the center.
I believe it is gold plated, as most of the items they made were.
Condition is very good, there are a few spots that show its age..after almost a 100 years, it is in great condition!

The present firm of Bates & Bacon was formed in 1857 under the name of Skinner, Viall
& Company and in 1858 the name was changed to Bates, Capron & Williams, but two
years later the senior member of the concern sold his interests and began business in his
own name, taking George M. Bacon into partnership in 1867, and operating as Bates &
Bacon. The firm engaged in the production of rolled gold plated bracelets. In 1882 the
production of watch cases was added, the company being the first Attleboro unit to
engage in this line. The present-day unit of Bates & Bacon, Inc., is made up of A. S.
Blackinton and F. E. Tappan, and it employs 150 operatives.
Fabulous vintage bracelet with a flexible style bangle band.
