Air plant, Tillandsia caput-medusae, indoor plant for sunny windowsill

Air plants as we know them are really Tillandsia, named for Mr Tillandz (1640-1693) a Finnish botanist, by Linnaeus. They are part of the Bromeliad family and most originate in South and Central America.

The name Tillandsia caput-medusae invites comparison between the plant and the snake-hair of the Medusa’s head (lit. caput medusae). The snake/leaves tend to coil slightly more tightly when they are in need of watering.

If it is happy in its home the plant will produce a pink and purple flower spike, and offsets (pups or babies) will appear from underneath one of the lowest leaves.

Your plant will be similar to, but not exactly the same as the ones in the picture.

Small plants have a length from 10-12cm and a width of about 10cm.
Medium plants have a length of about 15cm and a width of about 12cm
Clumps vary, but will have one medium plant with an offset similar to the photo.
There will be a wire firmly glued to the base of the plant, which will allow you to hang it easily to display.

I will send you care instructions, and my email address so you can ask me for help!
