Description

Raku Birdhouse, Metallic Ceramic Raku Birdhouse

Size: 11.75 inches tall, 5 inches wide

Hanger Included for patio/outdoor use

Great decorations for around the house as well as outside.

I love birds, they are playful little critters that are extremely relaxing and fun to watch. Due to my interest in having lots of birds around, I have taken great care to make this decorative birdhouse. This raku firing process creates beautiful white crackles and metallic coppers. These colors are bright but still manage to feel rustic, earthy, and look right in a natural outside setting. This birdhouse is a real eye catcher and will look great in your backyard or inside on a bookshelf for home decoration.

Special Considerations

-A handmade metal S-hook hanger is included to hang your birdhouse.

-This clay is porous to allow water to drain but this birdhouse also has a drain hole to allow rainwater to escape.

Here is a little info about Raku and its firing process. Raku clay will usually contain more grog which is fancy clay speak for course sand. The firing process is what makes the pottery or sculpture "raku". After bisque firing the pottery, it is then glazed with specially formulated raku glaze then is put into the kiln and fired anywhere from 1660-1900 degrees. At the point in which the glaze is melted, I take the piece out of the kiln using tongs and place the work in a metal trash can lined with newspaper and sawdust. The work is glowing red which adds to the excitement of the process....its a little dangerous!

I refund all shipping overages minus a dollar for materials. On multiple piece orders the cost calculations add up to a large amount so refunds are necessary. All items are double boxed for safety. Some items need to be sent separately to ensure safe delivery.
