Description

This flat, solid and good-looking typewriter was produced in DDR East Germany, usually in black glossy finish. This one has the Serial Number 219098, dating it at early 1953. It has a very interesting flat design, with a rare, army green wrinkled finish, and decal details in red and silver.

| Condition |
Technically, the machine is perfect. It has a solid body and tough German engineering inside. It has been serviced and works without any flaws. It was thoroughly cleaned inside out, mechanically tested and adjusted. See the typing specimen at last photo!

Cosmetically, the typewriter is also in excellent shape. It has no rust whatsoever. Chromes are shinning, no dents or rust. Decals are in good shape. A wearing spot on the paint is visible on the front of the keyboard. Please see the photos! I will not retouch the paint, as this is a rare wrinkle paint finish that does not accept retouching well.

It has the original case in an excellent condition, which is also hard to find. The case is fully functional and stable.

| Remarks |
Please note that the typewriter has it's original German keyboard. Main difference, apart from German-specific signs, is that the layout has the Y and Z switched over, so it is QWERTZ and not QWERTY. Again, please check the typeface specimen on the last photo! The Y-Z can be re-soldered (extra charge) to make it QWERTY, making it easier for English-speaking writers to use it.

I ship every typewriter with a new, suitable ribbon installed for easiness of use. If you want to install the ribbon yourself, just drop me a note, and I will leave the ribbon package unopened.

FAQs

╩ A typewriter is a delicate and heavy machine, which is a terrible combination for carriers worldwide! Normally, the typewriter will travel miles and miles until reaching your hands. The shipping costs for a returned typewriter would not pay-off, and the risk of damaging it on the return is big. So, please ask me everything you want to know, before you place your order! This way you can be sure that you are receiving the typewriter you actually wanted!

I only use 100% insured shippments, so in the remote event of a damaged good, I will make everything possible to either get your typewriter the way you wanted, or refund you. Just talk to me and we will sort things out!
╩ Believe me, I know the feeling of waiting for a typewriter and, when it finally arrives, it is in a thousand pieces! Apart from all the trouble of filing a complaint, it is simply heart breaking. Did I mentioned that I love typewriters? I spend many hours of my time restoring it to the best condition I possible can, and do not want all my work wasted because of a lousy packing. Therefore, I do all the packing myself, the way I would like to receive it. Each typewriter is unique in terms of protection needs, and I make sure that each one is carefully packed with the appropriated materials, to prevent any damage during transportation.
╩ As soon as the payment is confirmed, I will start processing your order. It can take something around 2 or 3 days, until I get the typewriter properly packed and sent to you.
If you requested some customization, it will take a bit more time to get it ready, which will be previously agreed with you.
Once the typer is dispatched, you will receive a tracking code and can monitor the estimated time until it arrives to your door.
╩ I use the German carrier DHL for dispatching my typewriters worldwide. They are reliable and normally accurate in terms of estimation times. You can learn more about the delivery process here: https://www.dhl.de/en.html

Please note that the estimated delivery time is an ESTIMATE, provided by the carrier. Customs, union strikes, local weather conditions, plays a big role in delays.

Unsuccessful deliveries are usually due to incorrect destination addresses. Therefore, to avoid problems with the delivery, please double check the delivery address you provided for any misspelling or incorrectness. An unsuccessful delivery due to insufficient or incorrect address is of the responsibility of the buyer.
╩ I always make a 100% insured shipment, so we can both be on the safe side on the unlikely event of a lost or damaged shipping.
If your package is taking longer than expected to arrive, please let me know as soon as possible, so I can check here from “my side”.

If your package arrives damaged, please inform immediately the courier when receiving the package, and take pictures of the damaged package and typewriter. This will be needed to claim the insurance and get a faster response from the carrier.
╩ Our typewriters, while maintained and serviced, are in fact used vintage or antique machines. As with all vintage or antique objects, unexpected malfunctions can occur during their use. While we try our hardest to provide good service, I can make no expressed or implied guarantee as to performance, durability or availability of parts.
As a collector, if you are able to bring the typewriter to my shop, I can take a look at it and see what happened. But there is no warranty implied.
