Mother of Pearl RGP Telescoping Lorgnette Handle 1890s

A mother of pearl and rolled gold plate telescopic lorgnette handle from the 1870s-1890s. This extending lorgnette handle or grip is made of ornate rolled gold plate and hand carved genuine mother of pearl/MOP panels with nice colour flash. It measures 5-1/4" when not extended and 9-3/8" in length when fully extended. The end of the handle is quite ornate, and is 5/8" across. The section where the lorgnette section goes so the lorgnette can be used with the extending handle is made of a celluloid material that is meant to resemble tortoiseshell. The opening is 3.5 mm. and the internal span is 10 mm. Most lorgnettes that can be used with an extending handle must have a permanent separate round section (usually found on the lorgnette itself) with a part that slides into the section you see at the end of this extending handle. This particular lorgnette handle was meant to be used as preferred, either with or without the extending handle, unlike the examples with permanent handles.
This is unsigned and good quality optical accessory in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs.

Items are vintage and will have signs of use as expected.
