Description

A gorgeous fat lava vase made in the 1960’s-1970’s by JOPEKO, a best-known WEST GERMAN art pottery manufacturer, which became famous for its spectacular colors and design sometimes bordering on the bizarre – fat lava glazes, striking patterns and bright colors.

JOPEKO is a family run ceramic manufacturer founded in 1948 in Ransbach Baumbach, Germany by Johan Peter Korzilius (also the name of the present owner). It is one of the few ceramic factories to survive the economic crisis of the ‘70’s and still produces vases and other decorative objects.

This vase is model number 490-30 and is very characteristic for Jopeko’s style. It is entirely covered in thick fat lava glaze in only two colors: black and red, which give a dramatic and expressive contrast of the real lava-like look.

This is a large vase measuring:
height: 30 cm (11.81 inches)
diameter across the widest part: 23 cm (9.05 inches)
base diameter: 13.50 cm (5.31 inches)

Weights approx.: 2.590 kg (5.700 pounds)

Marked on the base with model number 490-30 and MADE IN GERMANY.

Preserved in very good condition, with no chips, cracks or restorations.

Ready to be collected and enjoyed!

The vase will be carefully packed and shipped from Belgium, insured and with online tracking service.
