In Punta Gorda, FL there is a bamboo farm and pottery studio nestled in the pines. The brightly colored stacks of glazed pots were begging to be painted. I also loved the folk-art carved mermaid sitting on the roof ledge. As if she is watching over the colorful treasures. It is painted on a 12x16 2" deep cradled wood panel. I was exploring with texture at the time and coated the panel with fine garnet gel before starting the painting. The surface has a 'sandy' texture and looks very earthy. The sides of the panel are stain/ varnished with gloss antique walnut. It is wired on the back and ready to hang.
